Eyelash extensions are individual synthetic lashes of different lengths, curls and weight (thickness) cut in the shape of a natural lash and applied one-by-one to each individual natural lash as an ‘extension’ of your natural lash. Lash extensions are not strip lashes, clusters or flares. Lash extensions are meant to lengthen, thicken and enhance the natural lash line without causing any pain, discomfort or lash loss when applied properly.
Touch ups are recommended once a year, to keep the color fresh and the strokes crisp. Some clients like to keep them fresh looking and come in before their 12 month mark while others wait 12-18 months in between.
Modern Beauty Salon only uses professional grade adhesive which never comes in contact with your skin. Synthetic eyelashes adhere about 1mm away from your skin.
We do ask you to minimize the chance of wetting the extensions for the first 48 hours of wear. After that 48-hour period, the adhesive used to apply your eyelash extensions is secure enough to allow you to get right back to your routine. However, keeping away from extensive contact with steam such as in saunas or certain facials is recommended since it can begin to loosen the bond.
Our eyelash extensions are designed to give your natural lashes an improved look of fullness so mascara is not needed. However, if you feel the need to wear mascara, choose a water based mascara.
The suggested time frame is 48 hours. For a guest with sensitivities, it is suggested to wash within the first 12 hours of application.
After cleansing your eyelashes, brush your extensions with a clean mascara wand and use a lint-free cloth to gently apply pressure to the top of your extensions while keeping your eyes closed. An even gentler option after brushing is to dry your extensions using a fan. Using the fan to lightly blow air onto your extensions dries them in no time and helps to keep the shape! After fanning, don’t forget to brush again with a clean mascara wand.
A guarantee should never be promised in this industry due to many contributing factors outside of our control. One’s skin type, skin undertones, skin texture, skin regimen and medications are just a few. Your face is important to us and we are extremely experienced and qualified in the art of cosmetic pigmentation. We can guarantee that we will make every effort to reach your desired cosmetic goals but again, there are no guarantees in this industry.
Currently, the FDA is not regulating eyelash extensions because the eyelash extensions are applied to the natural eyelash hairs and do not touch the skin. The application process is pain-free. Some clients consider the process relaxing and even sleep through the appointment.
The application process for lash extensions normally takes about 90-120 minutes for a full a classic set of lashes and 45-60 minutes for a refill. For Volume lashes, the application may take from 120 minutes to 180 minutes. You will lay comfortably on a massage table with your eyes closed while relaxing ambient music is played in the background. During application, your lower lashes will be covered and the extensions will be applied only to your upper lashes one at a time.
Your technician will consult with you to understand what type of style you are interested in and what look will work best with your natural lashes. The overall look of the lashes can range from very natural to very voluminous!
Prior to your appointment, wash your face especially around the eye and lash area. Use an oil free makeup remover and be sure to remove any leftover mascara.
We do offer a service to have the extensions removed involving a short thirty-minute appointment in which we apply a gel remover. The gel remover is applied on top of the extensions without touching the skin and allowed to sit for 10 minutes. Once the adhesive is dissolved the extensions are gently wiped away with lint free applicators exposing the natural lashes.
True allergic reactions do happen, but are rare. If you have developed an allergic reaction you may still wear extensions with some changes made to the aftercare process. What is more common is eye infection due to improperly washing and caring for your lashes. Waiting 24 hours to wash lashes and not washing your eyelashes the entire time you wear them are the most common causes of infections. Imagine not washing the head on your hair for weeks or months. This is the most common reason wearers lose their lashes prematurely.
